One Israeli is a Person, 1,500 Palestinians are Not

This came out in CBC on August 1st:

Gaza conflict: Obama calls for release of Israeli soldier

Adbuction comes after breakdown of 72-hour ceasefire between Israel, Hamas

U.S. President Barack Obama has called for the release of an Israeli soldier who was abducted in southern Gaza on Friday as renewed violence broke a 72-hour ceasefire that had been agreed upon by Israel and Hamas.

The Israeli military said two soldiers were killed and an infantry officer was feared captured during fighting. Hadar Goldin, a 23-year-old 2nd Lt. from the central Israeli town of Kfar Saba, was apparently captured during the ensuing mayhem and taken back into Gaza through a tunnel.

In a news conference on Friday afternoon, Obama addressed the fighting and called for Goldin's captors to release him immediately.

"We have and I have unequivocally condemned Hamas and the Palestinian factions that were responsible for killing two Israeli soldiers and kidnapped a third," the U.S. president told reporters.

Obama is an ass. He is as guilty of the killings in Gaza as Netanyahu.

But look how CBC treats this factoid of one Israeli soldier being captured. Notice how human this Israeli soldier is. He has a name. He has a hometown, Kfar Sava. He has a grieving father who is named and quoted.

Compare this to the 1,500 Palestinians killed by Israeli soldiers like this one.

How racist can CBC be?

Since when did the Canadian public love foreign soldiers so much, and become so indifferent to the killing of foreign children?

This soldier is from Kfar Sava. I was there two years ago, and saw Israelis like him enjoying coffee in outdoor cafes in sight of the high walls completely surrounding and suffocating the West Bank city of Qalquiliya. Kfar Sava people are monsters to be able to enjoy their lives in sight of the suffering they are causing others. Why do Canadians have to be so interested in the welfare of this Kfar Sava soldier?
