August 9th - More disinformation from CBC

This is how CBC summarized events to date:

The war grew out of the killing of three Israeli teens in the West Bank in June. Israel blamed the killings on Hamas and launched a massive arrest campaign, rounding up hundreds of its members in the West Bank, as Hamas and other militants unleashed rocket fire from Gaza.

On July 8, Israel launched an air campaign on the coastal territory, sending in ground troops nine days later to target rocket launchers and cross-border tunnels built by Hamas for attacks inside Israel. Gaza militants have fired more than 3,000 rockets into Israel.

So Hamas started the war because it was responsible for the killing of the three Israeli settler youths. No mention of all the killing by Israel of Palestinian teenagers in the month before.

No mention of how violent the "massive arrest campaign" was, which included killings. Also it implies the Hamas rockets were flying at the same time as the so-called arrest campaign, when in fact they were a response to it.

It mentions that Hamas sent 3,000 rockets. Quite an impressive number. But CBC does not mention the number of bombs and rockets and tank shells Israel let loose. Also CBC ignores the fact that the Hamas rockets were virtually ineffective, while the Israeli ordnance killed 2,000.

How is that for a summary of events to date? Is it balanced? Not by a long shot!
